Denai Vaughn
Your Name: Denai Vaughn, The Networking Queen (TheNetworkingQueen.net)

Business Name:
Bee the Buzz Promotions

Year in business:
March 2008

Number of Employees if any:
THREE – me, myself, and I

What type of business do you run?
We are web-based organization focused on health, wealth and destiny development.

What key products or services do you provide?
Bee the Buzz Promotions is dedicated to encouraging, strengthening and inspiring men & women around the world in a variety of
ways. There’s a dream in your heart, but do you struggle with how to live it out? The challenge might be the way you see yourself,
or whether or not you allow the world to influence your decisions, vision, and circumstances. THAT is what we focus on – creating
an environment conducive to personal growth, self improvement, business achievement, and breaking belief barriers!

A free 30-minute consultation is where everyone starts. That gives us a chance to become better acquainted and to determine
our path to reach the outcomes you desire.  Then, the plans vary as everyone’s outcomes are different and unique to the
individual.  We look at personalized opportunities for improved health, increased wealth, self-talk, and beyond.  We can instead
look at business opportunities for growing your profit margin, expanding your brand, optimizing your networking skills and
exposure both online & offline and more…

What attributes make a successful entrepreneur?
Self-motivated and empowered. Believing in yourself no matter what anyone else says, does, or attempts to do; not letting others
discourage you and NEVER compromising your standards or beliefs - "You MUST press on towards the goal to win the prize..."

What do you believe are the necessary elements for a business venture to succeed?
Know WHAT you want to do, HOW you want to do it, WHEN you will do it by, and WHO you need to help you achieve your ultimate
goal. Produce a mission statement and develop your vision. Devise a Business Plan that requires you to focus on exceeding
your attainable, measurable, and specific goals.

How essential do you see an undergraduate degree or MBA being for an entrepreneur?
Einstein was an Entrepreneur…look at his educational background.  We have “Kidpreneurs” all over the world and there’s even a
book about them by a Dallas Crilley, who, at 15 years old decided publishing this would help him pay for college.

To put an age, educational background, or any other “guideline” as to who can be an entrepreneur and can’t is to limit the
creativity, ingenuity, and infinite possibilities for new products, services, ideas, and/or growth of our diverse world.

What role has academic education played in your own life versus the role of experiential learning and what has been the
relative importance of each?
Learning is a life-long process and if you aren’t learning then you are dying!

The difference in being “educated” verses “learning” comes when you TAKE what you have read, listened to, studied, and
contemplated and are able to USE that knowledge…remember the series, “The Real Life”?  How about “The Apprentice”?  Both
shows included Ivy League graduates and high school drop-outs and were VERY experiential.  Do you think both groups learned
invaluable lessons and went home to a different way of life after their exposure on the show? YOU BET. But it is, again, a matter
of taking what you know and using it to get where you want to go!

Experiencing LIFE is the greatest lesson of all.

Read a book of any kind and you will gain new knowledge. Read the SAME book for the 100th time, and you will learn something
new each time you read it. But what good is the knowledge until you share what you have learned with someone else – “Give a
man a fish and you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish and you have fed him for a lifetime.”

Share what you know. Help others to grow. Implement what you learn and put that knowledge to use daily. Data collection helps
us form opinions, ideas, theories, and so on…what you do with what you learn makes all of the difference.

Who you are, the dreams and goals you have, and the daily choices you make allows you to experience life differently from
anyone else – uniquely.  Nowhere are we commanded to agree nor believe everything we are taught, read, or study – we have
“free will.” If you choose to capitalize on your talents and God-given abilities the end result will be a “Purpose Driven Life”, just ask
Rick Warren, author of the Award-Winning Best Seller. So, find your purpose, and go live it out!!!

What are the three most important lessons you have learned about business and entrepreneurship in your lifetime.

1.     If there is a need and you can’t find a way to fulfill it, create the company that will. If you don’t, someone else will…

2.     God does not give you an idea that He does not intend for you to use…but how many of us have ideas we categorize as
“someday” or “one of these days” or “I could never”? We should take action NOW!

3.     Business is business. Personal is personal. Don’t mix the two.

What have been the keys to your success?

Being a giver and not a taker. Everyone needs something (more customers, more money, more time, more love, more…) and
having a willing & able spirit to provide what you can, when you can, and how you can goes a long ways.  You reap what you sow
so only sow what you plan to reap.

Looking at the five people I spend the most time with to ensure those persons immolate the characteristics, qualities, beliefs,
and traits that I want to be known for.  Are they good stewards of their time, energy, money, and talents? Do they prioritize their life
the way I do OR the way I want mine to be? Do we give each other a “hand up” instead of a “hand out”?

Know where you want to go.. Know what you want to do. Know where you need to be. Know how you need to get there.  Know who
will help vs. who will hinder you. “Name it and claim it,” as Dr. Frederick Price puts it so eloquently.  Work your plan on purpose!

There’s a latin saying my dad constantly reminds me of but I’ll put it like this, “Don’t let the negative people get you down!”
Remain positive and optimistic, embracing each day at its fullest because The Law of Attraction is correct – you will find what you
are looking for. Look for the bad and find it. Look for the good and embrace it.  Look for growth in your business and you’ll gain it.
“Seek and you will find…”

What advice would you give to an aspiring young entrepreneur?
Commit to your dream EVERY DAY!
Write it down, in your own handwriting (NOT TYPED). – What are you going to do? When will you do it by? And as you do so, begin
to think on and experience all of the feelings that will come from achieving your dreams NOW.  I have my 10 Power Statements
(affirmations) written with a dry erase marker on my bathroom mirror. I look at them EVERYDAY and see myself in them, literally.
And that has changed the world around me and how I see it.

Never give up. Never stop believing. Because…If you put your mind to it, YOU CAN DO IT!

What books would you recommend to aspiring entrepreneurs? Which books have influenced you the most?
I actually have these listed on my website under the Resources page: www.TheNetworkingQueen.net -  the list is growing!!!

Describe some of the biggest challenges or obstacles you've encountered as an entrepreneur? How were these overcome?
When the chips are down, claim the opposite.  An optimistic attitude goes a long ways!
When you aren’t sure where to turn, pray…and then pray some more. God has a plan but so does the enemy…it’s up to us to
decide whose plan we will follow and then to take action.

What memorable mistakes, if any, have you made in business? What did you learn from them and how can they be avoided?
There are times to “go it alone” and times to find a business partner. Do your research and see which way you are led.

If you “go it alone,” the two people you need to contact first are a lawyer and an accountant…you will be glad you STARTED with
them instead of being reactionary.  The same is true if you determine a business partner is needed..  Have a lawyer assist with
the paperwork and I HIGHLY encourage you to have full and complete disclosure.  Someone jokingly said, “You know, it is harder
to get out of a business partnership than it is a marriage…” I laughed, and later, I reflected on how right he was.

You should know everything there is to know about your business partner as their life will impact yours and vise-a-versa.  Some
questions to consider for yourself AND your potential business partner:
How much debt, if any, do you have?
What does the last 7 years of tax returns look like and are they filed annually?
Do you own, rent or lease the home you are in?
When, if ever, did you declared bankruptcy?
What is your credit score?
Are there medical needs you need to be aware of (this effects insurance)?

I’m writing a book on this topic so we’ll save the rest for that. I can’t give it all away…

What trends and changes do you see occurring in business today? What new technologies and industries will everyone be
talking about in twenty years?
More and more businesses are embracing technology and the need to TRULY telecommute. It is becoming more of a reality as
we watch business after business close their doors and an increase in persons being laid off.  Companies with high overhead
are experiencing fewer buyers and they can’t afford to pay their employees as a result…downsizing results.

The increase in online shoppers and online stores will continue. This includes clothing, prescriptions, travel, even education!
Look at the growing trend for online classes and the constant expansion of online universities with new “campuses” opening
around the world. The way we teach and are learning is changing. We are becoming more of an “on demand” society who “wants
it now” and we don’t want to wait!

What are the best and worst things about being an entrepreneur?
BEST – making your own schedule, writing your own paycheck, planning your WORK around your family, friends, and kid’s
events. You decide when to hire & fire employees, and if you even need them. Not getting stuck in traffic on the way to the office
because I work from home. The expansion of my business is limitless as I control what ideas are and aren’t implemented and
when.

WORST – writing your own paycheck; Business owners tend to pay ourselves AFTER everyone else…which means our salary
can be “the least”. (TIP: Hire a bookkeeper – I DID!) That is why it is VITAL to set goals and give yourself a raise just like you
would if one of your employees met or exceeded a company goal. Treat yourself like YOU are the employee. An Accountability
Partner can help with this part, and they are usually free.

Would you rank the following attributes in order of greatest to least importance for an entrepreneur?
4 Motivation and Ambition
5 Persistence
3 Confidence
2 Integrity
7 Ability to Communicate Effectively
10 Good Networking Skills
12 Knowledge of Marketing
1 Having a Good Idea or Plan
11 Leadership and the Ability to Inspire
9 Being Able to Execute
14 Being Able to Build a Solid Team
8 Having a Bias towards Action
6 Having the Right Advisors
13 Knowledge of Accounting and Finance
15 A College Degree

Are there any other thoughts, insights, or advice for aspiring entrepreneurs that you'd like to add?
If you put your mind to it, YOU CAN DO IT!

3 things to plan for right away:  Business Cards (“cheaper” is not always better – MinuteMan Press does a great job), a Website (I
recommend
www.MyXAC.com), and a different Bank Account for business (find somewhere that knows you by name, has a low
turnover rate for employees, and offers online banking – SouthWest Securities Bank is at the TOP of my list!).

Denai, if you had to mention just one attitude that would enhance networking quality, what would it be?
It is more blessed to give than to receive. – the attitude of GIVING without the intention of GETTING will get you far.
